We had a wonderful time visiting La Palma. We enjoyed hiking, stargazing, and seeing all the great sites on the island.

La Palma, affectionately dubbed the “Beautiful Island” or “Isla Bonita,” packs a punch with its natural wonders and unique landscapes.
When you visit, you can trek through the lush, UNESCO-protected biosphere reserve, where ancient laurel forests are numerous.
The island’s dramatic volcanic scenery, including the recent lava trails from the Cumbre Vieja eruption, is an exhilarating backdrop for hikers seeking adventure.
We also loved exploring the ancient salt pans which are beautiful next to the ocean.
Our absolute favorite thing on La Palma was the stargazing. La Palma’s skies are a stargazer’s paradise, renowned for their crystal-clear views.
The island hosts some of the world’s most advanced telescopes, perched high above the clouds at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory.

You can book a tour (only held during the day) to see these impressive telescopes close-up. We had the opportunity to go inside the Gran Telescopio Canarias and witness the telescope’s precise movements. It was an amazing experience!
As for experiencing the stars at night, we HIGHLY recommend taking this amazing tour. You can enjoy the mountain view without driving up top yourself. Plus, you’ll be able to view the stars with the help of an astrologer and a telescope.
